The beginning

Soren looked at Cala with concern. "Where will you be excused to, Cala?"

"Just somewhere quiet, sir," she replied, looking around for an inn.

William slipped under an old pickup truck and chewed on the raw meat. He saw more soldiers appearing and began to worry. He slid further under the truck, watching silently.

Soren allowed a moment of concern to cross his face before nodding. "Yes, of course. We shall look for a room or two around here." He calmly searched the buildings around them before spotting a relatively large one.
"Ah, here we are," he motioned towards the building with a faded and nearly-collapsing "Bed and Breakfast" sign hanging on rusted hinges.

Cala waited behind Soren. She inwardly sighed, eager for some time alone to think.

Five stepped outside with Seth. "First game we're going to play is hide and seek. We're going to work on your stealth. You're going to sneak around the camp and I'm going to look for you. You have to make it till dinner or you're not eating."

"Fine, but I still think this is dumb..." Seth, looked around and took off, scaling a building and running across the roof.

Five chuckled to himself, walking in the opposite direction. "I'll give the kid a head start while I get something to eat."

William waited till the soldiers had passed and disappeared from sight before he dodged from the vehicle to an empty cart and into an abandoned house. He leaned against a back wall, hugging his knees.

Ezekiel watched Zander walk one way, the young miser run another, and the exorcist go another. He looked between the three ways and gulped, unsure of what to do. They were told to stay together, but everyone split ways. "Zander?" He called, starting to walk after the male. "Can I go with you?" He felt pathetic asking, but was becoming more and more panicked with all that he heard.

Tira picked absently at her teeth as a robed Miser walked up to her throne. He kneeled with a fist to the ground and spoke.
"My lady, Athen and the group slipped away from us. We believe by the direction they were going they went to the humans' camp."
Her long claws retracted from her mouth as she contemplated her next move. "Let them be for now," she replied in an airy voice. "Too many humans." She stood up. "Besides, we must awaken Krios first." A faraway look crossed her features for a split second.
"Keep an eye on those who enter and exit the city," she instructed. The miser pounded the ground again in salute before fading away into the shadows.

Kallias wandered, looking for a doctor. when he came across India, he called out to her, anxious. "Dr. Tanner, I'm afraid I have an emergency. There's been a stabbing. Please hurry."

"Sure, kid," he called over his shoulder. "Pick up the pace though." Zander speed-walked towards the hospital, shaking his head at Soren's story. If this is all true, we're royally screwed...

Soren walked up to the teller's desk and rang the small bell. A stout middle-aged man wearing very thick glasses walked out of the back room with a napkin tucked into the collar of his shirt. He ripped the napkin free and smiled at the two of them.
"How may I help you?" He asked in a raspy voice.
"Hello, kind sir. I would like two rooms please.," Soren replied evenly with a broad smile.
"Ah, of course, of course," the man replied, opening a large, musty book. "Let me see..." His finger trailed down a long list. "Aha! Rooms 14 and 15 are open for the night." The man turned around and briefly searched a wall of keys behind him. He pulled down two sets and put them on the counter.
Without having to be told a price, Soren dropped a handful of gold jewelry on the counter. "Will this do?" He asked curiously.
The man's eyes widened at the sight. "Oh, yes, of course, sir!" The man turned around abruptly and pulled two different sets of keys out of a drawer. "Please, take the top floor rooms. Suites." The small man grinned wide, revealing decayed teeth.
"Thank you, sir." Soren grinned back and turned around to Cala. "I'm sure you are ready to lie down, dear," he spoke quietly as the man scooped up the gold and hurried to the back room.

Cala nodded and took her key. She followed Soren as far as the rooms and went into hers, locking the door behind her tightly. In the silence, she let her body slouch slightly, falling against the door.
This has been a incredibly trying day so far, she thought, removing her bags. I never knew the humans hated the Misers so strongly, but it seems just about everyone does. She tilted her head and looked in the mirror. Will I be hated?
She took her bag and removed her set of knives from it, lining them up across her bed. One by one, she began picking them up and tossing then gently against the wall. They fell into a pile on the floor as she examined the blades to assure they were hitting tip first. She gathered them and repeated the ritual, just slightly harder this time so they stuck. As she pulled them from the wall, she examined how deep the puncture was. A silent curse escaped her as one puncture was slightly deeper than the others.
She decided to put the knives away and read instead to save from ruining the wall paper.

Seth took a deep breath and squatted behind an unused transformer box on the roof of an old store. A light breeze blew in and carried the smell of flowers. He sniffed and stopped. He could smell the girl from earlier in the air.
He quietly crept down the side of the building and leaped towards the inn. He searched the windows quickly and quietly till he found hers, which he slowly opened from outside.

Cala jumped to her feet, tossing the book across the bed. For a moment, she was stunned by the noise and fear, but quickly grabbed the knives still on the bed.

Seth slowly climbed in the window and put his hands up. "I came to talk," he said, looking worried and nervous. "That's all."

Soren slid into his room and closed the door tightly. After he was sure he was alone, he collapsed on the bed, holding his head as he ground his teeth in pain. I don't know how much longer I can contain Athen's power, he thought as blue sparks quietly emitted from his grinding teeth. This is almost out of my control...

Ezekiel gave a relived sigh and ran to catch up with Zander, keeping pace next to him. "So what are we supposed to do?" He asked, voice wavering. "I mean..I don't completely understand what's going on in the first place..!"

"Yeah, you're not alone, kid," Zander replied, keeping his eyes on his surroundings. "I need to find the ambassador or Five and talk to one of them. I don't want a panic going through our camp." He sighed as he rubbed a hand down his face. "The last thing I need is panic..."
He walked into the hospital and found a tired-looking nurse. He asked her if she'd seen the ambassador anywhere. She pointed down a hallway and he began moving again.

He took this into consideration, as he had started to worry himself. He breathed deeply and followed. "If there's anything I can do to help, tell me. I know I'm supposed to go help repair those wagons, but I'm willing to do any other tasks if its needed," He offered and looked behind them, just trying to help since Zander seemed on edge.

"Just stick by me for now, kid," he replied absently, looking in each doorway he passed. He finally found the ambassador with the doctor he had been introduced to before. "Sir," he piped up.

Ezekiel quietly stood behind Zander, standing with a straight back. He peeked in, then looked down, waiting to see what else was in store.

Cala only slightly lowered the blade. "What is it you want to talk about?" she asked, her voice stern.
