The beginning

"Moa..." Seth hissed. "You son of a bitch! I told you to stay out of the city!"

Moa grinned, showing jagged teeth. "Make me, outcast," he giggled. "Go play in the garbage."

Tira took the ear between two claws. "Oh, poor Bion!" she said theatrically. "He was so young!" She giggled and took a bite out of the ear, spitting it out almost immediately with a sour expression. "He tastes awful though..."
She dropped the ear and smiled at Seth. "Well, well. Sethy boy, I haven't seen you in so long!"

"I'd tell you to go to Hell, Tira, but you're probably sick of staying home with your reject army." Seth tightened his fist until his fingernails tore into his palms. "What do you want, you ugly hag?"

Moa giggled to himself, standing behind Tira.

"You're so cute when you're angry, Sethy," Tira replied. "Like a little puppy trying to get his toy back."
Her smile widened as she put a clawed palm to her hip. Her cold laughter rang through the city. "Isn't it obvious? All I want is to give this world to its rightful owner. Who better to run this world than my Krios?"

"I'll take a crap in my hand and show you a better leader than you're little boyfriend," Seth growled.

"Even female Misers are as delirious as humans," Athen complained with a twitch in his eyelid. "Krios is dead and I'll make sure he stays dead. Why did you take the Miser child?"

Tira's smile twitched, but remained. "Krios will have you hanging from the tallest skyscraper in this city once he has you. In the meantime..." She nodded her head. The surrounding Misers closed in on Athen and Seth. Many more Misers emerged on the outskirts of the city, peeking through windows and from the insides of rusted vehicles.

"A Miser child..." Seth stepped back thoughtfully. "In the camp? Why would- ... William... You bitch, Tira! What did you do with him?!"

"I think-" Cala convulsed slightly mid sentence. "... wrong," she whispered. "Something's wrong. In the camp. A voice is calling me." She shivered and felt something snap behind her eyes. Her teeth itched.
"Seth," she snarled and began running towards the overwhelming energy. She saw Tira and Moa in the distance, felt her teeth ache, and pounced on the male Miser with her blades drawn.

Moa shrieked and grabbed the woman's wrist while holding her off. "Ah what the hell!?" He glanced at the blade before kicking her off. "You're trying to kill me! Hhhhhnnn... I don't like that. I'm going to have to eat you."

"I think she's turning, man!" Seth yelled to Athen and jumped between Moa and Cala. "Lady, we're outnumbered and outmatched. Calm the hell down!"

Tira smiled. "William is...going to help me with something. He's-"
She stopped mid-sentence when she saw Cala jump into the group with her weapons drawn. "A Lost?...wait!..." She smiled gleefully. "It's her!"
She held Moa back. No, Moa, she said to the Miser silently. We must have her alive. She's very important.

"Cala?" Soren called. He followed close behind and immediately stopped at the sight of all the Misers, including Tira, their queen. "Cala, get back!" He shouted, slamming his staff down to the ground. Tendrils of blue light erupted from the end and tugged at Cala, willing her to retreat.

Cala felt her heart thumping hard in her chest. Everything around her seemed different, sharper and more colorful. The gnawing feeling in her jaw made her want to scream. "I want to kill him," she screamed through her clenched teeth fighting to get free. "Don't get in my way."

Soren struggled to keep hold of her. She is strong...
"You will not survive," he replied. "There are too many Misers here. They will overwhelm you."

"There's a fight ahead," Kalevi said calmly. "Please stay here."
She stopped within speaking distance of the group and cleared her throat. "I order you to return to your homes," she said evenly. "By order of the Light Lord."

Cala dropped into the dirt, remaining still and breathing heavily, and looked back at Soren curiously.

Moa's ears twitched and he looked at Tira. Do we kill this werido or what?

"Let's not upset the lady," Five finally spoke up. He passed Zander and Dakota and stood next to Cala. "Unless you missed Aelius, Tira." I know I didn't.

"The guy that blew up Bion?" Moa chimed. "He's the Light Lord?"

"The one and only," Five replied. "And out of our little group, I thin the majority of us would be incinerated if he had to come break up Misers fighting Misers."

"Yeah, ok..." Anna agreed reluctantly. She went to Kallias and took his hand. "We should go. I don't like being so close to Krios."

Tira flinched, but remained composed. "Very well," she said lightly, waving a clawed hand. The Misers outside the city began to disperse slowly, returning back to the darkness of the city.
"Why is Aelius even here?" She asked, a hint of anger betraying her otherwise sweet tone.
